An American supermarket is about to launch a trial of driverless delivery robots in the Texan city of Houston.

According to ABC News, Two Kroger stores will soon see deliveries brought curbside from a driverless robotic car.

Robotics company Nuro has worked with Kroger to provide the driverless delivery robots. “Initially, we are going to start delivering with our self driving Prius vehicles, so these are passenger vehicles just like regular Priuses that we’ve added sensing and computing to so they can drive themselves,” Nuro co-founder and president Dave Ferguson said. “There will still be safety drivers in them.”

Ferguson says they hope it will only be a few weeks before the fully unmanned, self-driving vehicle will be on the road.
