Ingram Micro has signed a distribution agreement with specialist provider Ecovacs Robotics, targeting the smart home market across New Zealand.
The Chinese vendor specialises in the development of in-home robotic appliances, with expertise in home automation, smart robotics and floor cleaning services.
“Ecovacs Robotics invests significantly in research and development to create state of the art robotic appliances,” said Leon De Suza, general manager of Apple and Consumer at Ingram Micro. “Most of its Deebot range of floor cleaning robots are controlled by consumer’s smart devices, enabling them to clean their homes remotely.
“From anywhere in the world they can activate their Ecovacs appliance to vacuum carpets and mop floors, in whatever room they desire, and have it return to its charging base when the work is done.”
According to De Suza, the vendor’s offerings will be available to channel partners in New Zealand from March 2019.
“Many of the solution are so advanced that consumers can draw virtual boundaries inside the app, so that the robot “knows” to avoid areas in home that are out of bounds,” he added.
“In addition, they can control the robot using voice assistants such as Google Home and Amazon Echo, as well as their mobile device.”
Meanwhile Damian Commane – country manager of Ecovacs Robotics – said Ingram Micro was selected on a sole distribution basis, in a bid to tap into an expansive nationwide reseller base.
“The Deebot range is just the start of a whole range of solutions that we intend to bring to this market and we require a distributor which has the length and breadth of relationships that Ingram Micro does,” Commane added.
“It’s an exciting time to launch in this country, and we believe that New Zealanders will welcome the opportunity to acquire innovative robotic appliances at a very competitive price point.”
