DENISON, Texas — The Denison High School robotics team is representing their school at a world competition.
The team leaves for Houston next Wednesday to participate in the FIRST Championship event. It’s the first time the school has ever competed at this level.
Students say this came as a complete surprise. They were picked as a wild card team, and found out just three days ago.
“It’s been like work, work, work… rush, rush, rush!” said senior Mitchell Kisel. “We’ve actually been trying to repair our robot, because we didn’t think we were going to go any further, and we actually tore down our field.”
The world competition will take place next Thursday and Friday, with the finalists announced on Saturday, April 20.
