A RECENT robotics immersion day saw students from as far as North Brisbane and Noosaville descend on Buderim Mountain.
The event, held at Buderim Mountain State School, had more than 150 participants from 10 schools and was organised by two of Buderim’s excellence program teachers.
Buderim Mountain principal Neil Jenkins said it had been a delight to see students from so many schools coming together and learning.
“Our school robotics club meets three times a week, but spending time with students from other schools and sharing knowledge creates a rare learning opportunity for all involved,” he said.

The participants were from Years 3-6 and came from state and private schools.
While Buderim Mountain State School hosted the event, it was facilitated by Robocoast: a group formed by Sunshine Coast teachers to support the teaching of robotics in schools.
Buderim’s own robotic club members have used the immersion day as an opportunity to fine-tune their tactics ahead of the upcoming 2019 Robocup Junior competition on May 3.
This will be the Buderim school’s second year competing in the sumo event, in which students build and code their own robot with a set of manoeuvres designed to push their opponent outside the sumo ring.
