Greenwich robotics team competes

GREENWICH —The Greenwich Central School District Robotics TechKnowLogic Team competed in the three-day Robotics Competition March 6 through 9. Their hard work paid off, as they ranked 28 out of the 36 teams in the competition.

Under strict rules, limited resources, reduced time due to snow days and the guidance of volunteer mentors, the Greenwich Robotics Team had less than six weeks to build and program a robot to perform challenging tasks against a field of competitors. Additionally, they also raised funds, designed a team “brand,” honed their teamwork skills and perform community outreach. In addition to learning valuable STEM and life skills, all student participants are eligible to apply for $50+ million in college scholarships and are awarded a certificate for a three-credit college course through Hudson Valley Community College for their participation.

The TechKnowLogic Team was led by Ashley Gwin and Damon Brownell and includes David Gabriel, Jacob Hall, Claudia Hall, Caleb Hinton, Ryan Jones, Andrew LeBarron, and Becky Turczak. Shawn Gwin and Cory Hinton served as volunteer mentors.
