FRESNO, California – Dozens of teams from all around the state – and, even from as far away as China – are in Fresno this weekend for a robotics competition.
This year’s theme: Destination, deep space.
Teams build robots from the wheels up to execute several different tasks.
A member of Buchanan High School’s “Bird-Brains” team says it’s a competition unlike any other.
“Trust me, it’s something you won’t expect. You’ll be surprised how many people are diligently working, in and out, on their robot. Honestly, how the competition works in the first place, it’s so new and exciting,” says Elijah Hernandez, a student at Buchanan High School.
Matches take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Fresno Convention Center, and it’s free to attend.
Winners of this competition will move on to the world championships in April held in Houston, Texas.
